RPO stand for Regular Production Option. All an RPO list does is give a list of options included in the car. L98 and LG4, for example, are RPO's for engines. WS6 is a performance package. Just a semi-random combination of 3 letters/numbers that say this and that was included in this car.
RPO's work great, assuming the engine is original. Other thatn that, yank the cam.

Nope, the eigth letter of the vin, either way, will point to the LB9, which is the 305 TPI. Where are these engines at or what are they in that you could possibly tell by the transmissions? I believe that the manual transmission recieved the more powerful engine.
