Hard starts when warm, aging starter, or too much timing??

well, since my car's sitting in a thousand pieces in my garage right now, i thought i'd address a another problem i had been having with it. When the car is warm, and i try to start it, it turns over really slow, almost like the battery is dead or something, but i have good voltage. i do have a whole lot of timing on it, not sure exactly how much, but i know it's alot. COuld the timing be causeing the hard starts? or is my starter dying?

thanks,
Eric

Too much engine for that little POS starter. BTDT with a 400. Get a CVR mini-starter, I got one, it spins my 400 faster than the stock one ever spun the 305. I should have done that years before I did, what a difference.
