Update to ignition trouble; man I feel stupid . . .
Popped the hood of my car this morning and discovered something I didn't find earlier. The rear driver's side spark plug wire was completely off. That's the clicking I heard, it was arching to the metal of the body thus leading to my bad ground causing the twitching speedometer. Put the wire back on and it works like a charm; smooth as ever.

I had the same thing happen at the track. I thought I did some major damage. I was pretty happy when i got back to the pits and found a plug wire was off. My tach was jumping too....
