i am looking for barb fittings that will screw into my radiator and th350 tranny until i get my lines done. i just wanna make some temporary lines for a week or so. i have tried 1/4 npt and they are too big, looks like i need an inverted flare fitting of some sort. tia

5/16" is 1/16" larger than a 1/4", I've never seen a 3/16" so it's probably a 1/8"npt.

It is not NPT.

It's 5/16" inverted flare.

Flare fittings aren't measured by the thread size (any more than pipe ones are); they're measured by the tubing size.

The transmission has ¼" NPT IIRC, with a brass adapter in it to hook the 5/16" inverted flare lines to. The same adapter would work at both the radiator and the transmission.

You can buy 5/16" brake line at the parts store, and make up your lines. Personally I wouldn't go through the hassle of the rubber crap, only to have to go back and do it AGAIN except right another time. The rubber garbage is going to be about ¾ as much work as doing it right. Not a whole lot of time or trouble savings.

Why did you single me out to ridicule? Never mind, no sense in asking you why.
