a little help please...

ok I got my firebird out today so now I can do some work on it, my main concern right now is that if I floor it from a stop (regardless if the engine is at temp or not) it will bog. it will act like its going to stall but if I let up on the gas it works fine. I did a search and what I came up with is either too much fuel or an EGR issue. so my question is how can I check/correct both of those? I am open to other suggestions though. thanks all

Usually, stumble on acceleration is not too much fuel, but not enough. That can be from improper fuel delivery or improper mixture from a vacuum leak, including the EGR. It can also be from weak spark that is blown out by the increased compression pressure.

Check fuel pressure and delivery rate (pump or filter problem). You might also check to make sure the ignition system is intact. Too much plug gap, failing wires, or worn distributor cap/rotor can cause weak spark and stumble.

I don't think it would be the ignition system (yet). how would I check to see if its the egr? i don't hear any vacuum leaks, and the spray pattern for the fuel looks good...but the throttle body is not the right one for the engine, its a tb off my 305 which is on the 350.
thank you for the reply btw

So you're running a 305 TBI 220 on a 350? You may need to increase the injector size to resolve the lean mixture tendency. 55lb injectors are probably a good start. Then you might want to get into some PROM tuning.
