HELP, steering shaft and ECM problems. SLP is too much...
Ok, I just got done getting my 1 3/4 SLP headers in my car, bolted on, and exhaust all done. Now I have two problems. #1, the steering shaft rubs the header. I should've listened to everyone's complaints. #2 I took the AIR system and smog pump off, and there was a plug going to the intake manifold (a gm weather pack type plug) from the canister where all the AIR hoses met (EGR maybe?). Is that plug necessary? My car runs fine without it plugged in, but i'm just curious as to what it did. Anyway, the steering shaft is a serious problem. Any help?

from inside the vehicle loosen the bolts to the steering column and move the steering column over. It may take some work to get to them, maybe not.
The fitting is probably for the EGR tempo sensor. All the sensors have plugs for them except the one in the radiator that is there but no wires go to it.

At the bottom of your steering column inside the car there is several bolts that hold the column to the firewall. Take the bolts out and the nuts at the top of the column to the dash. Use a dremel tool to open the holes to the right of the firewall plate, about 1/4 inch is the most you will get. That should be enough to clear your headers. I have 1 5/8th SLP headers and all I had to do was loosen the bolts and take up the slack to have enough clearance. It is a pain but I'm very happy with my set.
