Vaccum lines still full of gas

Vaccum lines still full of gas
I put my carb from my '85 (that I know is adjusted good) on the new engine in my '84 and got it to run and idle.. But I disconnected the vaccum lines and still got gas pouring out of them. What else could be causing this?
