I have a 86 trans-am with a digital speedometer in it. I have a 700r4 for it that has a cable driven speedometer in it. What year VSS will fit this car so all I have to do is plug in the speedometer wire. I realize that I may have to change the drive gear on the tranny this is not a problem. I bought the car as a roller so I do not have the original tranny. The guy I bought it from said all I have to do is get a VSS for it. I have 3.73 gear ratio. Any links on where I can buy the needed stuff would be great.

 

A VSS from an '86 should work fine. The key will be in getting the correct plastic driven gear on the VSS for the rear gearing. The dealer should be able to help select the right gear.
