Mobil 1 oil

Axle/Gears: 3.73
Mobil 1 oil

I have a 87 350tpi and it burns a little oil. I was wondering if i put in mobil 1 15w50 will it be to thick. does anyone run this oil and how is it.

I'm going to nip this one in the bud. Oil threads turn into opinion journals and flame fests.

15W-50 is thicker than necessary for use in the typical factory-spec, street driven vehicle. If you have an oil consumption issue, fix the problem. Thicker oil isn't going to do much.

10:1 with a factory SBC, you've got hardened, cracked valve stem seals. Replace them with a more positive sealing type, and you'll solve the oil consumption problem without any crutches.
