Fuel tank sending unit ?'s, please help.

Transmission: 4spd. Auto
Axle/Gears: 3.73 locking diff.
Fuel tank sending unit ?'s, please help.
I am going to be replacing my fuel tank and pump and want to also replace the sending unit. I went to the GM dealer today and they said the sending unit is not made anymore for my car. I have an 83 Z28 w/cross-fire injection, vin code is "S". I am using a new stock in tank fuel pump and new stock fuel tank. The dealer said they only make sending units for 85-92 thirdgens. My question, is any other year sending unit compatible with my car? Also, anyone know of an aftermarket unit that would work for my car? Thanks for any help guys.

Oh come on guys, someone has to have some info or suggestions for me, anything would help.
