Will a Junkyard tow a car without wheels???

Hey guys,

Since I don't know how junkyards work, I assume that you can call a junkyard, pay them, and they comne to tow your car. Right?

Well, after I'm going to be done, my TA is not gonna have wheels or any suspension at all on it. Will a junkayrd still tow it or do I have to make special (aka expensive) arrangements, or will they charge more?

I had an old Nova of mine hauled off with no rear end, and no subframe. I just put it up on jackstands in the driveway and they came with there flatbed, lifted the back up off the stands, and used a winch to pull the carcaus onto the bed. they didnt' charge me either

i dunno if they will or not, but i'd like to see a car w/no wheels towed would be quite a site to see.. but yea, the ones that have flat beds will get it, i dunno about prices.. considering its going to the yard, i wouldnt think they would charge extra, since most cars they get would most likely not run/roll very well

When I was towing I didn't care if it had anything. A flatbed with a 15,000 lb winch doesn't care either.

Most junk yards have a flatbed so they can haul rollovers easier. Make sure you tell them that the car has no wheels. If they want to charge you to remove it call someone else. There is always at least one around that will take it and not charge you. They might not pay you for the car but they won't charge for removing it either,

Thanks for the help,

You mean junkyards might actually pay me something to take away my car? I thought I ahd to pay them... anyways I don't think I'll get much for a just a frame of a TA.

They'll pay you because the car has scrap weight value... won't be much, maybe $25.

they'll drag it for you but they can't tow it if it doesn't have wheels or tires.

I just scrapped out a 83 fb, and got a penny a pound. I used a loader with a chain around where the rearend used to sit, to put the car on the car trailer. The junk yard took it off with a fork truck. No one would come and get it around here without it being able to roll.
