nope, externaly they are the same block. The only way would be by the VIN # or if it's a TPI the color of the injectors, assuming they still have the stock injectors. You could take the crank out and verify it that way but thats not really easy is it?

Casting numbers at the rear of the block on the drivers side, on the ledge at the bellhousing.
Some even have 5.0 or 5.7 cast into the block.
I have seen the casting numbers on the passenger side in the rear, but not often.
Take the number and post it here or go to www.mortec.com, they have them there.
