Seems as if some roller lifters are "clearanced" on the sides of the roller, and others are not. My comp roller lifters are clearanced, but some mellings lifters don't appear to be.

Any reason for the clearancing? just design? I'm curious if comp clears them for high lift cams (maybe the side skirt would hit the lifter when ramping up or down?)

I have noticed the exact same problem with the Sealed Power HT2148 stock replacement lifters. It comes very close to hitting the lobe on my fast ramp camshaft I'm installing (I would estimate .030") but does not hit. The stock lifters are "clearanced" for probably 4 times that amount between the lifter body and cam lobe. Anyone using the 2148 stock replacement lifters with big cams w/success?

I dunno. I'd have to see a 3d model to prove me wrong, but I don't see how it wouldn't hit a cam with a huge ramp rate and a lot of lift. I threw the mellings in the trash can and bought another set of comp lifters.
