Knock Sensor and Idle Learning

Ok, I was looking through my Camaro shop manual about exactly what code 43 is. I think I have to my knock sensor has gone bad cause every time I drive my car it shows the code and acceleration and everything just goes out the window. My question is this, my shop manual said some thing about before starting the engine to use a Tech 1 scanner to do something about engine Idle learning. Can I swap the knock sensor myself and not worry about this or should I leave it to the professionals. By the way, I have a 91 Camaro RS L03 305. Thanks

easy way to tell if that's what's bad. Disconnect the wire from the knock sensor and drive it and see if you still see a problem. the knock sensor is screwed into the right side of the block (near the starter)and functions as the coolant drainplug so you'd lose coolant if you pull it. It has a single wire going to it. the wire has an oblong plug that you squeeze to release. If you disconnect it and it runs allright, replace it. It's easy, just messy.
