What are the sensors that are on each cylinder heads???

Are they the knock sensor(s)? I'm not exactly sure what they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

BTW it's a '91 Z28 305tpi.

Then what is that sensor on the front of the baseplate(manifold)? I thought that was the temperature sensor.

There's actually 4 of them on some engines. Pass. head has the "last gasp" sensor as I like to call it. It turns on the fans at about 235-240* in case the ECM isn't controlling things correctly. Driver's side head has the sensor that runs the temp. idiot light. On my brother's 87 TPI there are TWO additional sensors on the intake manifold water jacket- one is the sensor that the ECM looks at for engine temp and the other runs the guage on the dash. Why 4 sensors? God only knows.

The one on the driver's side between the #1 and #3 cylinders is for the temp gauge on your dash.

The one on the passenger's side between the #6 and #8 cylinders is for the secondary fan (or single fan).

Below that in the block is the knock sensor.

On the front of the intake manifold there is a temp sensor for the ECM, and the other is for the 9th injector (85-88 TPI only).
