Car died, had to get towed
I got the car a month ago and it's always done this thing where it stalls if it idles too long. The RPMs drop and then it cuts out. Never had a problem while moving though. So today I'm breaking on my way to school and the RPMs drop and it stalls. I try to crank it and all I hear is a click. I'm not really sure where to begin at this point, the car is new to me so I don't know what's been replaced and what hasn't. Any ideas where to look?

your alternator is dead, and your battery has drained. About $80 and 15 minutes of work to fix.

Thanks guys. I'll upgrade the alternator wire while I'm at it. I think the battery is fine, its reading just about 12V, but my starter is probably toast.

PS a new alternator didn't fix the problem. The new starter I put in is working great though.

I agree that's what it sounds like, and it certainly works better now, but it still stalls. I'm going to clean or replace whatever sensors I can get my hands on.
