305 vs 350

I'm considering buying a 88 iroc convertible with a 305 V8 with 100k on the motor. My understanding is that the 88 vert didn't come with the 350 due to torque concerns. How much would it cost to rebuilt the 305 when it's needed, and also can a 350 be dropped in instead? Any comments would be appreciated.

Ok, but can the convertible frame handle a 350 or greater motor?

May need to stiffen it up a bit, sub frame connectors ect, but it can definetly be done.

305 rulesz. 8)

Get some gears, like 3.42.

Found mine at a local yard. $150 for the entire axle. 8)

Another $150 for the install [labor, break lines, diff oil change, etc.] and it'll feel like a new car.

Your convertable can handle a 350 without any problems. Swapping in a 350 is easy and everything from your 305 will transfer. You will get nothing but a smaller wallet if you rebuild your 305. Take some times and do a few searches on 350 swaps.
