Electronic Spark Control, LB9 Vs. L98

I've got the original LB9 ESC module in my 85 IROC which now is home to a TPI 355. I'm swapping a 165 ECM in very soon, and I wanted to know if there was a difference between the LB9 and L98 ESC and if so, how much? Thanks.

The part numbers are different. So SOMETHING has to be different. I don't have a clue as to what it is though. I still have the LB9 knock module from my 87 if anybody wants it.

Jim,

I know that the detonation sensor itself is different between the two engines, so the control may be calibrated to the different sensors as well. Functionally and electrically they are the same, but the operating parameters might be different.

Just a guess.

Thanks guys. Since I already converted to an L98 knock sensor, and I'm upgrading to a 165 ECM, I spose now is the time to get an L98 ESC.

Or, you could convert to SD and then you only have to buy the Memcal.
