Alternator amps? non thirdgen but urgent.....

well... we have a 1993 Chevy Suburban 350 tbi auto 4 wheel drive, etc etc lol the alternator is basically dead and we need a new one since its not charging and makes that whining dead sound... we need to order a new one, how many amps is the stock one? thanx for the help! (arent like all chevy alternators the same for a certain year...?)

No, all alternators aren't the same for a given year. Even amongh vehicle types there are differences depending on the vehicle's options.

Check the rear case half or laminated iron stator ring on the altermnator for an output rating. You should see something like "88A, 104A, or 140A' to designate the output.
