I needed to replace the instrument cluster in my 92 RS. However, the used cluster I purchased shows 116,000 miles on it when I only have 83,000 miles on the car. I would like to roll it back to what I really have on the car, but I hear this isn't as easy as it looks. Any help?

Just take the odometer out of the old cluster and put it in the new one.

Bahamut,

If you have any finesse at all (eg, you don't crack eggs with a sledgehammer) it really isn't that difficult. The mechanism is fairly self-explanatory once you get it open, and it's really easy to set the dial wheels anywhere you want. Where I'm located, it's perfectly legal to alter an odometer for the purposes you describe.

I set mine to about 1000 miles more than what it was when I bought it, so it looked like I didn';t drive it much when I sold it and it wouldn't show up on a carfax report. HEHEHE SHHHHHHHHHHHH

Its very simple, just a little spring, heck open it up and push the numbers back
