good question, I am curious how to now when its time to check that. I see you live here in VA. I'm in Virginia Beach and its even hotter here. I have had my new camaro for 5 weeks now, and I don't know when the coolent was last changed, so I am curoius as whether or not to flush it and change it or what. Anyone have advice for us?

Only idea I have is that maybe it's time to change the coolant too. I doubt the 2 things are related in any way.

The GM manual for my '91 says to change it every 30K miles or 24 months, although changing it earlier cernainly won't hurt.
It there any benefit of using distilled or DI water over "tap" water?
Since the first two posts were from VA, I though I'd jump in.

YES, do not use tap water! Tap water has all kinds of deposits in it that will, over time, cause all of that scale and lime build up in your radiator, clogging the tubes. Distilled water has all of that crap removed and just costs a few bucks at your local gro store. Use a distilled water and antifreeze combo with a rust inhibator, along with either "water wetter" or RMI25 for best results. RMI25 will help loosen up that scale build up if you already have it, or you can try using no-pulp OJ, yes OJ! The citrus acid helps eat away the scale <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by Stuart Moss:
