EVAP canister help

Well some how I almost past emissions. Here in Arizona we have a IM-147 emssions test. I am missing absolutly every possibly piece of emissions equpment except for a catalytic converter, and there is a 6" gap of exhaust pipe missing after the cat to where the rest of the pipe begins again. But somehow with a 750cfm speed demon DP, vortec heads, and a 224/230 110* LSA cam, I passed the HCs, COs, NOXs easily.

But I did fail the "Pressure Test". The only thing they checked for physically was an EVAP canister, which is there, only there is nothing hooked up to it. They noticed this, and informed me that is the reason I'm failing. Anyway, from what I understand the only thing that needs to be hooked up to the evap canister is one hose to the vapor line from the fuel tank, and one line to the carburetor.

So here are my questions.

1.) Assuming the reason they didn't do a pressure test was because the EVAP canister clearly wasn't hooked up, If I do hook up the evap canister(line to fuel tank, other line to carb) should I pass this pressure test?

2.) Will reconnecting this have any effect of my emissions?

I hope when I take my car back through the people there are just as incompetent and/or apathetic

If I just hook one hose up to the canister, and the other to a vaccum port, won't that cause a giant vaccum leak.(canister doesn't have built in solenoid).

anyone help?....

It will be a small vacuum leak but shouldn't cause any problems. Most of the first cars with a charcoal canister in the late 60's and '70s were set up like that. Its basically a controlled vacuum leak.

If you want to you can put a ball bearing in the hose leading to the carb which will make it "look" correct but not function.

I like your style

I may just do that.

The so called "Pressure test" is just a visual inspection of the EVAP setup right?
