pistong ring end gap

im rebuilding a 350 chevy for a soon to be project trans am.the motor was rebuilt at one point in time cause the crank was turned and whatnot.there really wasnt a ridge in the cylinders, when i checked end gap with the old rings its showing about .030 dont know if thats within specs but dont seem like it.theres no markings on the pistons indicating it was bored and they always stamp the top of the pistons if there oversized right?i really dont want to bore the block so my question would be should i just hone it and rering it?i know i wouldnt get a 100,000 miles out of it im planning on swapping in a lt1 anyways so this would be for the time being. thanks, steve

you should measure the bore and see if it's within spec or not and go from there
