bogging? and loss of power? plus, poor idle
bogging? and loss of power? plus, poor idle
I have a strange problem going on. I just put my new tranny in and started my Z. First off, When I start it, it has a difficult time holding an idle??? After about a minute of holding my foot on the throttle keeping the rpm's around 2g, it idles fine. I took it out, It ran fine for a while, 20 min drive. Then, I got home
I set the timing and I noticed the car sounded sluggish when I would jump on the thorttle. I took it out for a sping and it was super SUPER slugish???? WTF? I got back home, took a look and I had an old spark plug sock, really old, and it had caught on fire!
Terrible idle for any initial startup, I've to feather the throttle for a minute to get it running, the it's fine. Now, it's sluggish as he!!??? What gives? No codes, and I noticed a strong smell of fuel too?
Any help is greatly appricated!

I'm a little confused, you're saying a spark plug boot had caught on fire? Was it still connected? Did you replace it?
What is your timing set at?
EDIT: You probably don't have injectors for your carb... So asking about your carb is a moot point....

here's the deal.
Got my Z running with the new tranny in. Everything aok. The car was not holding idle very well at first. Once it warmed up, it was fine. But, the car sounded like it had a huge cam. Idle would go up, then start to die, then up and then down??? After it warms up, it idles' OK?
I then set the timming @ 6deg advanced. Unplugged the tps sensor to check if that was the problem of my bad idle. I then, cleared the codes. Started the Z, it seemed when I reved it up, it would slowly increase the rpm's instead of right away??? really REALLY sluggish. No codes, but it was starting to run hot. I have an OLD spark plug boot COVER that caught on fire. CRAP! So, now, I replaced teh plug and inspected all, which are all OK. The car's fuel psi reads a consistant 45 with Key on and running. I checked the plugs and they were black. I changed the plugs and the bad wire and still no change?
I have no friggin idea why the car is sluggish and idling bad??? I checked for vacume leaks, but could find none?
