temp guage needle

when I shut my car off and let it sit for a little while the needle goes past 260 and stays up there...then when I start the car I have to tap on the plastic to get the needle to come back down.. any ideas on how to fix this.

Replace The Gauge. It Is Bad. HAd A Similiar Problem With And Oil Gauge. I had To Tap It To Get It To Work. One Thing To Check Is When You Take Apart The Instrument Cluster, Check The Little Tabs That Connect To The Gauge And Make Sure That They're Making Good Contact. That To Can Cause The Needle Not To Work Right But Wasn't The Problem In My Case. I Had To Replace The Gauge. Best Of Luck
