Two questions about the car's idle

Is it normal for you car to have an incredibly low idle when you start it. I've found that if I push lightly on the gas pedal for about 20 - 30 seconds it goes back to where I set it.

The other question I have is, why is that the warmer my car gets, the higher the idle gets? I was under the impression that the idle was high in the beginning to warm the engine, but then would drop back down.

When I start my car cold, I idle at about 1000RPM and gradually drop to around 650RPM. I would check the TPS and IAC to see if they are adjusted correctly.

I had this problem too. it turned out to be a vaccuum leak between my carb and intake manifold. get the enging running, and spray some carb cleaner betwen the carb and the manifold. if it idles up then you have a vaccuum leak, and need to reseal with new gaskets.
