Installing Distributor

I have a iroc z camaro, 350 with HSR intake...i was wondering, can you install the distributor with the motor in the car? because i was going to put my motor in today, but went to put the distributor in, and the housing is too big or something, it looks like i'm gonna need a new one....but that means i'll have to order one...but is it at all possible to put the motor in this weekend as planned, then slide the new distributor in there when I get a new one???

mine went in fine with the motor in the car. the plenum was on too as well as all the fuel lines and vacuum hoses. ive certainly worked in areas with more space, but it can be done.

edit: just remembered i had to cut up the lip coming out of the firewall a little. the distributor itself fits down fine, but i couldnt get the cap down there. (and yes, it is the small cap style dizzy)

if you dont want to cut up that lip, im just about positive that it would go in no problem if you took off the plenum.

It should drop in easily without having to cut anything. The plenum can stay too. Leave the cap off it while you put it in. Gives you enough extra room to be able to do it.
