Many little questions

Alright I have many little questions:

1) The torque converter, I know there is about 1 20% loss in power through an auto, now would an aftermarket converter reduce that power loss or what would it do?

2) The shift kit, what is it functions and it is difficult to install?

3) What would be necessary to do in order to harden up the tranny?

4) I know there are different kind of cams out there (hydraulic, flat tappet, solid) If I remember right my 92 RS would be hydraulic right?

5) Also about cams, what would be a good lift and duration for these cars? I know little about cam specs.

6) TPI, I have bought one from an 87 IROC, what sensors are in these things and necessary to run them? MAF O2 etc..

Thats about all for now

1) Stock TCs are about 10% loss due to slippage. The higher stall/smaller diam., the higher the slippage. I seem to recall that it takes a 3500 stall to have 20% slippage.

2)It makes firm, quick shifts. I put one in my car and it has a nice "chirp" from 1-2 now, but it's also harder on the stock clutch packs and rear suspension. It isn't difficult to install if you can read directions, but it's very time consuming for an inexperianced guy like me.

3)A rebuild with TransGo kit. Only have a true trans guy do this.

4)Yes. It's a Hyd roller.

5)If you plan on keeping the 305, look into Crane or Comp Cams web sites. They have cams designed for TBI engines that will make the most HP from the stock heads and ECM.

6)Post Qs on TPI board. They'll have your head spinning, but you'll get needed answers.
