oil additive and synthetics

When is it safe to use synthetic oil in a newly rebuilt motor? How many miles/ after break in etc.

Are oil addiditves such as "prolong" safe and effective in reducing engine wear?

Oh, boy, here we go again...

There's a break-in procedure in the FAQ forum. Synthetic is fine after the last oil change mentioned there.

Prolong has chlorinated parafin in it. Bleached wax. Is that what you want to put in your engine?

No oil manufacturer recommends any additive be used with their product.
