Engine wiring

looking at the car from the front on the left running over the valve covers is a ton of wires on my 84 Z28. IMO they look about ready to crumble and/or snap etc. Anyone know where to get replacements because most have fancy plugs on the ends that I have no idea where to find.

How hard would it be to re-route the wires off the engine if long enough replacements were gotten?

Take them out of the harness and see if they are in good condition, the wiring may be fine but the black harness may be decayed. You can replace that easily, but the wires are a different story.

I dug around in the Haynes Camaro manual and found what the wires were for the emmisions stuff. (Page 170 of the manual if ya got it)

I know one wire at least which i think goes to the Air switching soleniod valve, assuming other wires arent mixed in with the emmisions stuff.

Im thinking just to be safe I should replace the lot of them, anyone know where to get them?

RB,

Unless you want to buy a new wiring harness (if you can still find one) you'll need to replace the wires individually yourself. Get a supply of the correct WeatherPack connectors and start soldering/shrink tubing the new wires in place. Frankly, if the insulation isn't breaking off the wires, I'd replace just the convoluted tubing (outer covering/loom) and call it good.

The connectors are available at any good parts store. Just make certain you match the correct pin count and pattern. Most of them are fairly standard.
