Steering box leaking out of input shaft..fix?

the power steering box on the 84 Z28 I just picked up leaks badly. it's coming out of where the steering shaft goes in.

Is there a replacable seal there that can be replaced..or is it an internal break? Is it repairable or is the box toast?

Its repairable for about 10-20 bucks and some cussing. How long it will last is another subject entirely. Could be a day... a minute... eternity...

You can easily rebuild the entire gear. The kit costs less than $30 IIRC. I've done a few, it's not too hard, only thing is I always have a tendency to lose some of the little ***** so I've had to go visit the vulture and get a spare gear. Tips: when putting it back together, put the parts in the fridge for a while; use thick NON-FIBER grease to hold the ***** in; put the sealing rings in boiling water for a few minutes to soften them up before attempting to install them; use a dingleberry cylinder hone to bust the inside surfaceof it (you'll see what I mean when you get there).
