One of the most annoying problems with thirdgens

IS THE WAY THE $#^ING WINDSHIELD WIPERS GO OVER THE TRIM AND HIT THE PAINT!!!!

It's caused my paint to scratch then flake TWICE now. Is there *any* way to fix this? I rarely use wipers and often coat RainX on, but WTF GENERAL MOTORS?!

my 83 does not go over the paint. Maybe someone put too long of wiper blades on it.

my 86 doesnt hit either. you could probably replace with shorter wiper arms or blades.

Mine did the same thing until I adjusted them properly. Works fine now.

No problem with my '87's wipers. (edit:don't remember having any problems with the '88 either)

Make sure nothing is bent/damaged/worn out, and you have the right length blades. Also make sure they are all the way down when turned off.

Get you facts correct before you go blaming a whole generation of cars for a problem only you have!!! I've owned 3 3rd. gens and none have that problem.

Mine does this. You need to pull the clip outward. Raise the arm up and move it over a couple teeth. That will fix it.

That will help but in my case it didn't do enough. I had to remove the cowl screen and adjust the linkage. But it was like 10 minutes of playing with it and it works fine now. It is unlikely that you have the wrong parts, probably just need to adjust it.
