ac swaping v to surp. pulley
ac swaping v to surp. pulley
I have a 86 IROC that I want to install a surpentine belt system on. I have a good vbelt compressor on the car and a bad compressor with a surpentine clutch how can I swap these. Thanks
You need to get a special snap ring plier designed for G.M. compressors. There is also a special puller to remove the clutch with. I don't think they are very expensive, but I bought mine in 1976, so I haven't priced them lately.

I too thought it was that simple. Had a V-belt and serpentine compressor. Too easy I thought. Well, turnes out the compressors are differant under the clutch. The front housing cover on the compressor needs to be swapped also, you'll see this after the clutck is removed. Be careful and work slow, you don't want to ruin a good comprssor.
