Estimate My Horsepower
I have never put my car on a dyno and I wonder how much power the motor is making.
It is a 305 with a LT1 cam (Specs in my Sig.) The heads are LB9s that were shaved .030 for about 9.5 to 1 compression. It is topped off with a Holley Street Avenger dual plane manifold and Street Avenger 670 carb.
The car also has headman shorty headers and a free flowing exhaust.
Anyone interested in guessing how much horsepower a combo like this is capable of producing?

Thanks for the input.
Since I built the engine, I may be a little too optimistic. But, if you think about it, the Corvette LT1, which the cam shaft came out of, had a 350 rated at 300 horsepower. So, if you do the algebra, you come up with about 260 hp in a 305.
Of course it's going to depend greatly of the tune up. I use an Autometer Air/Fuel Ratio meter and a G-Tech performance meter to tune it. So, I think the tune up is near ideal.
Anyone else care to comment?

the heads arent as free-flowing as LT1 heads, you probably dont have as much top end as the LT1s do because of it. I would guess around 245hp.
Nice setup though, it looks like you just need some better worked over heads and larger valves for bigger gains.

Nice engine!
For that last little bit of performance follow the link at the end of my sig and follow the instructions. It'll be worth 30 more hp.
And finally, a nice little 2500 rpm TC will knock a full 1/2 second off the old quarter mile
