my mechanic told me i have a problem with one of my fan sensors its the one that is keepin my fan on all the time and won't let my car get up to operating temperature i would go back out and ask him which one it is but i will get charged for him to look it up i was wonderin if anyone on here knew what it was and would that make a big improvement on my car if it did get up to operating temperature ?he said it would make it better on gas what about performance?

the switch he is refering to is the one on the passenger head, between the 6 and 8 spark plugs.

I've never ever heard of such a thing!
If it were -20° outside your engine would still reach operating temp with the fan running at all times.
It's in your thermostat.
It's either stuck open or not there at all.
The real funny thing about your post is where you said you're mechanic would charge you to look it up.
What a friggen joke this guy is.
Go back and ask him if you could just trade some alcohol for his services. I'm sure he'd take you up on it!
If you're gonna spend money on people like this you're much better of buying a Haynes and or Chilton manual and doing it yourself.
You definately did the right thing when you asked your question here though!
That mechanic is probably getting low on his stash wondering when you were going to show back up with some more money for him.
He's probably jones-in right now.
It really urks me when people take advantage of other people like that.
