On removing the passenger side exhaust manifold I broke a sensor or something that is bolted into the head. Any ideas?

Its just the fan switch, use a socket and pull it out.

Buy new one and install it.

Easy.

Try a different parts store.
The one you wen't to either didn't have it or they just plain don't know what you are talking about.

Call around and ask for a radiator fan switch.
PepBoys, AutoZone, Kragen, ETC... should have it in stock.

 

you can always get one at GM if you want to pay $25 for it.
