Timing Cover Marks on a Early Model/Late Model
Here is my problem: I built a 1974 350 and put it in my 88 camaro that had a stock 305. I used the timing cover from the '74 but I had to use the harmonic balancer from the '88. The problem is that the timing mark on the '88 timing cover is in a different spot then the '74. I can't figure out where exactly my TDC is. Does any one know how many degrees these two marks are apart?

There was a big debate over exactly how many degrees it was....
The only correct and accurate way to get it right is too buy the correct balancer.
This way you know for sure that the balancer outer ring hasn't slipped.
