Inconsistent A/C Delco Oil Filter Designs

I switched from Fram to A/C oil filters a year ago after Fram got bought out and went cheapo / shabby. But I've noticed the same A/C filter (PF25 in this case) has a different design at different stores. Kmart actually had 2 different designs. Walmart had a different design from the 2 Kmart designs. It's the metal and plastic parts at the open end of the filter that vary. One design has a black plastic tube about a half inch long in the center hole. Another design has no center tube, and looks like nothing preventing the entering oil from just going back up the return hole. The third design, which I found at Walmart, looked more like what I am used to, so I got that version. Don't tell me A/C is "Framming out" on me !! Is everyone still happy with A/C Delco oil filters ? Why so many different versions of the same PF25 ?

GTA,

Designs change, and manufacturing processes change. It sounds like we'll have to cut open a few new AC filters and make sure there is still a good bypass valve and the same square footage of filter papaer in there.
