I am building my new 383 now and I am in need of camshaft suggestions. I am using a Professional products "Hurricane" single plane intake manifold that I am converting over to fuel injection for the 383. I still have my Trick Flow Kenny Dutteweiler 64cc ported heads and a CR around 10.7-11.0. Hooker Long Tube Headers and the 25 lb hr injectors. The engine will be a 75% driving and 25% racing. Yes, I burn my own '730 chips. I have an LT4 hot cam from the last project I will throw in to start it with. But what cam should I go with? Is there a different approach to selecting a cam for a single plane than EFI?

 

Anyone?

 

I would suggest a Comp XE HR 230/236 112 lsa installed at 109 degs. You will get a good midrange and top end power with this cam while still having the ability to maintain decent idle vacuum.
