Electrical Question

I just got my car 89 Formula up and running again. Right now, I don't have some interior power accessories. My power windows and radio work just fine, but everything else is dead. No power locks, remote mirrors, hatch release, or headlights. The hazards and turn signals work fine, as well as the wipers. I have gone through every fudse, but can't find a blown one. Any suggestions?

That's a tough one. I'm running into the same probs right now getting my '89 up and going. I have everything except the *** **** power windows and can't find the problem for the life of me. I'm not getting power to the switch, and when I trace the wire I lose it under the dash. Oh well enough about my problems. I recomend you obtain a multimeter some how and start checking to see if your grounds are good from your switches. The next thing I'd check is to see if you have power to the switch. After that I'd check the switch. If you're like me then you might end up taking the interior back out and chasing wires all over the car until you find the problem. Most of my experience with electrical things not working is that I forgot to bolt down a ground wire somewhere.

Kev:

Yours sounds like a fusible link. There are 2 of them that hook the entire car to the battery; each of them services about half of the car's circuits. They are at the starter terminal where the battery cable hooks to it.

ATO:

There is a little terminal strip that nearly all of the car's power options get their power from. It has 2 rows, one of battery, one of ignition. It is against the left kick panel, above and behind the hood latch cable and all that. Each of the various options like PW, PS, P mirrors, RW defogger, etc. gets its power by being plugged into a cavity in it. Sounds like the wire for the power window circuit is unplugged.

Some times fuses look fine, id try swapping the fuses that are associated with the interior things that arent working, cheap to fix @ 25 cents a fuse..

Worth a try =-)
