People with a 5 speed, what do you set your idle to?
People with a 5 speed, what do you set your idle to?
My car has been stalling so I put the idle from about 800 up to 1200. Now I don't have to worry about it dying on me but the wierd thing is, if I put it in first and take my foot off the gas it will actually drive forward by itself, with my foot off the gas. Is this normal? I didn't think with a manual the car was supposed to idle forward but now that I think about it an auto does that. =
Yeah, If you are having stalling problems with you idle at 800 RPM you have anther problem. Check for proper idle operation, good spark, etc. I just replied to a post over in the TPI forum about checking the IAC. It may just need to be cleaned.

mine is at 800, though you may have a small vacuum leak, that requires the idle to be set higher to not stall. Also check to make sure you're ignition is working properly.

Transmission: T5
Mine is set at 750-800 but that is on a slightly modded 305 TPI. Also the car should not creap forward when you let out the clutch and do not push on the gas.
