Fuel Tank Sender/How do you get to it?

Hi, I think my fuel sender is gone on my 83Z28. How do I get to it? Do I have to remove the fuel tank to change it out?

Any info appreciated, thanks!

Yes!!! Some people say you can cut a hole in the trunk floor, but trust me do it right and drop the tank out.

Getting there.....383 with Super Ram, Bosch 24# SVO's, MSD, Edelbrock 58 mm TB, 700R4 tranny, Eibach springs, Koni 12 way adjustable shocks and struts, and more!! Now let's pray it runs when it's all back together!!!!

Well to those who think cutting a hole is bad.
I did it then cut the hard lines and then put on connectors, then made a plate and used machine scews and a home made rubber gasket tgo cover the hole. This did take some time but when I upgrade the fuel pump it will take about 10 minutes to swap and no one can tell unless you pull the carpet!

I am very happy with it!

I was lucky enough to have the stock fuel pump last long enough until I was ready to do an axle swap. Unless you think you'll be changing fuel pumps regularly, I wouldn't recommend the hole-in-floor method!

Super Chevy did it in the recent Camaro Performers magazine article (cut a hole above the tank for swapping pumps in their EFI app.). Admittedly it was a first-gen and those have frames. There was even a kit they bought just for the purpose.
