305 TPI IROC-Z Starts but won't run

Car died one day. Starts up idles a bit and dies. I've replaced Cat Converter, Fuel Pump and Oxygen Sensor. Same problem.
Sounds like it's not getting gas after the priming burns up.
Anyone got some advice please.
Much appreciated.

G-Man,

Welcome aboard!

You've just found the premier technical site for ThirdGen "F" cars on the web. (We're pretty good at other vehicles, too.)

Make sure the fuel pump remains running after the car has started. There is an auxilliary oil pressure switch at the rear ledge of the block, near the distributor, that is supposed to maintain power to the electric fuel pump after the engine has started. It is possible there is a problem with this switch, the switch wiring, or the fuel pump relay. You can monitor the voltage to the fuel pump at the relay terminal with the tan/white wire. There should be a 12VDC signal when the engine is running and there is more than 4-7 PSIG oil pressure.

Thanks for those tips Vader.
That's just what I needed to continue my troubleshooting.
It's great to have this resource.
The car is a '88 IROC convertible
and I really miss driving it right now when it's summer in California !
It gets a lot of looks from bikini's on the road ;-)
Thanks again.

Sounds like the oil pressure switch is dead...

In start, the fuel pump gets power through a relay, but in run (for safety reasins) the power comes from the oil press sw such that if the engine quits running the pump shuts off. The switch is behind the intake manifold, kind of under the distributor. Make sure the connector id plugged in, and if it is, it probably needs a new one.

I know what you mean about the weather... that brutal heat wave we'd been having, where the temp went up past 80 a couple of days, is finally over; it was great up here today, about 76 or so...

Progress. Looking for the fuel pump relay I noticed a dried out, cracked vacuum hose plugged into the plenum just in front of the distributor, cut the end of it and it runs a little better, not much but well enough to assume that it's getting gas. I can keep it running by working the gas pedal but it's very irratic. I'm thinking vacuum problems ?
Where do I look ?
Appreciate your help :-)
