need some help immediately

Alright i have an 87 305 carb camaro and im having a problem. we rebuilt the motor and its been running great until the last few days. when you first start it up cold it wont idle right away, and will stall if u put it in gear. when it does idle il drive it and sometimes, not all the time, it will have trouble shifting (its an automatic. and again not all the time but sometimes it wont idle when you start it hot. im not gettin any codes. and when it does idle its around 1800 rpms, im not sure how to go about perfecting the timing and idle, so any info on that would help. i have been having some problems with vaccum hoses, and i think that may be what the cause of this is but im not sure, if you know...please let me know, cause i dont want to drive it like this and damage something else.
thanks

The idle problem; Vaccuum problems will definatly do it, you could also have a slow IAC (try cleaning it and it's passages).

As far as the tranny goes, try adjusting the TV cable... it could be going south...

Good luck.

this sounds like a classic case of vacuum leaks. check to make sure all of the hoses are connected, and that you sealed the carb and intake gaskets properly.

well i checked all the vaccum lines, and there were two leaky ones, so the idle is good right now, i think the shifting problem is the cable that goes from the carb to the transmission. its got a kink and its bent at one spot, so hopefully that will be the end of that problem
thanks alot
