plug the crankcase vent filter hole?

real quick question, i think its pretty simple i just dont know for sure.

ive got a pcv valve on one valve cover and a crank vent filter on the other. i went to a open element, and didnt want that ugly filter tube there and i had a plug that fit in the filter hole perfectly. it should be okay plugged since i have a pcv, correct? thanks.

Nope, it won't. For the PCV to be able to draw (vacuum) out the vapors, there has to be someplace to draw from, a source of fresh air.

Think of sucking on a straw. If you put your finger over the other end, it doesn't draw much does it? That's what your plug will do. Now put the breather filter back in that hole and you're getting clean filtered air thru that straw.

Make sense now?

I've seen breathers at O'Reilly's and Autozone, so I imagine your local parts chain would have them as well.

The little (2" diameter) round ones made by Mr. Gasket, etc., would work fine.
