Car makes clattering noise right before shift at WOT (please help)

When I am racing or whatever, just drivin fast...my car makes a clattering noise right before it shifts. It usually only does it at that point. It kinda sounds like teeth chattering. A friend who knows a bit more about cars said that he thinks its the U-joints. Can anyone help?

Yes it is a ping. Try some better gas or check your timing (too far advanced) causes preignition (pinging).
