Starter problem?
Starter problem?
When starting my car the last couple days it has sounded like it is missing for a split second. The motor will crank then pause then fire up. Today I turn the key and nothing happens except for a major clicking type sound coming from under the hood. Sound like a starter problem to you?
I replaced mine(starter $90) and it starts up every time. It had the same symptoms as you described..
The only thing is, It(mine) did it mainly when it was HOT. Check the tech articles first. and seach for hot start..
May need to get a started relocting thingy..?

Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight first, and that the battery itself is good. If they are, then you most likely need a starter.

My car did pretty much the same thing. It cranked like BREP---BREP----BREP----BREP then one day when it was hot it wouldnt crank at all. I looked under the hood and saw smoke coming from the starter.
Am I the only one who found it a major PITA to replace a starter? It took me almost all day and lots of cussing. I couldn't get it to slip out because the Y-pipe was in the way. Somehow I slipped it out but then the new one wouldnt slip back in. I had to file down the top of the starter to get it in there ...It seems every simple job on my car turns into an all-day project.

88,
You're not the only one who had trouble replacing the starter. Exact same problems here with the exhaust being in the damn way! The way I finally got mine in was by taking off the solenoid and then the starter slipped right in. PITA!
