Need Advise ASAP
I'm still prowling around, looking for my two Camaros. I thought I found one of them, but when I called the guy, he said it had been sold. However, he mentioned that he has another for sale.
It's an '83, 5 liter, 5 speed, and he wants $200 for it. He says it runs and all, but has some issue with the passenger side door hinge. He said it has somewhere around 100,000 on it, so I would guess somewhere around 120,000 to be safe. He said he did lifters, the timing chain and a few other things, but that's just sales talk to me.
Knowing nothing else about this car, and assuming it starts, runs and shifts correctly, can I really go wrong for $200? I checked the book value at one site, and it listed a low number of around $1,400. This assumes it's still in pretty good condition though, and I have no clue what this car is actually like.
Someone please help me before I possibly lose another opportunity to own a 3rd gen. Thanks.

if it runs and its not all rusted or wrecked and the interior is ok $200 isnt bad for a "camaro project". let the fun begin.

Well, I called the guy today. It turns out he has 2 more Camaros. One is an 82 auto, which is the $200 car, and I don't want it. The 83, manual trans, 305 that I was considering is going for $800, not $200. Right now I can't swing that, especially considering it wasn't a year that I was really looking for. So I'm left without a 3rd gen once more...........sigh..........And the saga continues.......
Thanks for your reply. If anyone is interested in either of these, P.M. me and I'll give you the number. They are in Newtown Square, PA, about 30 minutes outside of Philly.
