Rebuild Kit Question
Rebuild Kit Question
HEY GUYS. ITS TIME TO REBUILD MY MOTOR.
IM WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A COMPLETE REBUILD KIT THAT WILL ADD ON A LITTLE POWER.
MY VEHICLE IS AN 89 RS WITH A 305.
I AM THINKING OF PURCHASING FLATLANDERRACING'S MASTER REBUILD KIT FOR $572 BEFORE ALL THE TAXES AND SHIPPING.
AT THE SAME TIME, HOPING THERE IS ANOTHER KIT OUT THERE WHICH PROVIDES MORE PERFROMANCE.
THANKS IN ADANCE.

My general advice in such circumstances is to acquire a second block, take your time disassembling, cleaning, fitting, and reassembling the spare engine, then plan on a weekend to perform the swap. That allows you to continue to drive (limp?) your current engine and take the necessary time to get the spare engine built correctly. It can also spread out the cost of components over time to make the process more budget friendly. Cutting corners to save money will only haunt you in the long run.
Of course, if you have difficulty finding a spare 305 block, you can always start with a 350 and build from there. You can tell people it's a 305 if you prefer, and internal parts are likely to be more plentiful and less costly.
