Remote solenoid problem

I am trying to install a remote solenoid in order to cure my hot start problem. I basically followed the instructions from the tech article. The problem is when I went to start it, the starter spun, but it didn't engage with the flywheel. Did I connect to the wrong terminals on the old solenoid? I had the battery cable connected to the large terminal on the solenoid, and then I ran a jumper across to the terminal that connects with the starter motor.

Originally, the only other wire that was there (besides the accesory wires) was the purple start wire. I moved that wire to the start terminal on the new relay. I don't think that I have an ignition wire like the one shown in the tech article.
thanks,
Chris

I've put one on and had no problems. I will look at the set up tonight and tell you exactly how I hooked it up. My battery is in the trunk and the solenoid is on the firewall. I'll let you know, wire per wire.

It just sounds like one wire is wrong, simple fix.

Ok here it goes.
I have a TCI starter and the only wire/cable going to it is the Battery cable that comes off one side of the solenoid.
The solenoid (mounted passenger side - fenderwall) has the battery cable from trunk going to the side closest to the firewall, then the battery cable side (closest to the nose of the car) goes to the solenoid on the starter. I have one wire (carbed ZZ4) going to the "S" terminal (the one on the side closest to the firewall - it's a bit old and dirty so can't truly make out the letter but it's on the side with the wall)
Just make sure these are wired like that. If it is and you still here a whining but no engage, you need to check to see if the pinion gear is going into the flywheel. If it's still a problem let me know I'll try to help you out.
I hope this helps a little bit.

Ok, I think that I have the new solenoid wired up correctly, so my error must be on the starter. So which terminal is the battery cable wired to? and the other wire on the starter, is that a jumper wire?
thanks,
Chris

On the starter, I have the battery cable hooked up to the battery solenoid and also a jumper wire which goes to a terminal closest to the header. TCI had the terminal already installed. I just made a wire and ran it from the battery cable that's hooked up to the solenoid to this terminal.
I also rechecked my hookup at the solenoid and I only have one wire on the "S" , nothing on the "I", and I had two "power" wires also hooked up to the battery cable side.
